WRITING SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES (Part 1 of 18): Make each section understandable on its own

The number of scientific papers is rapidly increasing, so scientists spend less time reading each paper (24 minutes nowadays compared to 38 minutes ten years ago), and do not always read the whole paper. This means that each section of your paper must be readable/citable in itself, and someone should be able to understand a figure without reading the text.
